Rules & Handicapping

Rules:

We're not big on rules - we're here to have fun after all.  But there is prize money at stake, so we play the usual rules of golf with one modification to make things a bit easier on those with less experience in the game:

  • The 6" bump rule:  Anywhere through the green (i.e. anywhere except on the green) you may improve your lie.  The purpose is not to get you out from behind a tree, but to keep bad luck from making a tough game even harder.  So, no more than 6" please.
  • Putt everything out, especially when other teams might be watching.

About Handicaps:

Handicaps are determined by the handicap committee.  All rulings of the committee are final.  Bribes are accepted, however.

Kidding aside, Ed has always tried to adjust individual handicaps to compensate for the unique playing conditions at Plumas - it's short, but very tight, so long hitters that spray the ball need a little extra help relative to their flat-land index.  If you've been here before, he also adjusts based on your past rounds, so eventually we get everyone dialed in pretty well.  Like Mother Nature, nobody fools the handicap committee more than once..
